Q - Do you develop the ETRAX family continually or is ETRAX 100LX the last one?
A - ETRAX 100LX is the latest, not the last, in a long line of chips in the ETRAX family. As we are not only selling these chips, but use them ourselves they are continuously developed. Currently we are working on the next ETRAX generation.Q - I don't need all the functionality and performance of ETRAX 100LX. Which are my options?
A - The added functionality won't cost you anything extra. However, you have the possibility to use it whenever you'll need it in the future. Then you won't have to spend time and resources to look for a new solution as you're already familiar with the technology and tools. Look ahead and use an architecture with the possibility to expand!Q - I want more technical information before I make up my mind. Do I have to register or sign anything?
A - No. All our technical documentation is available on the documentation section.Q - Does ETRAX mean anything?
A - ETRAX meant "Ethernet and Token Ring controller from AXis" in the beginning - ETRAX 100LX doesn't have a Token Ring controller in it so simply consider it as a name.Q - What is cris and CRIS that pops up here and there?
A - CRIS stands for "Code Reduced Instruction Set" and is the CPU architecture/instruction set developed by Axis and used inside our ETRAX chips. It is highly optimized and typically gives less code then the i386 instruction set. You can say that CRIS is the CPU, but ETRAX is the whole ASIC with I/O interfaces etc.
