Name

tool  --  fetch a tool and add it to the tools target

Synopsis

tool {package} [rev=revision] [root=url] [dest=directory]

Description

tool fetches package and adds installation of it to the tools target. Tool packages are not recursed by the recursive targets of the rules file. They are helper applications, to be built for the host, that can then be used in the process of building the software for a product.

Options

dest=directory

The destination directory of the tool package to fetch.

rev=revision

The revision of the tool package to fetch.

root=url

The repository root of the tool package to fetch.

Example

Download, compile and install tools/build, revision R2_4_1, so that it can be used in the building process: 

    tool tools/build rev=R2_4_1
